Things Still Here or Not
The Oak Tree at the BR Presbyterian Church still lives.
The Corner Cupboard is long gone.
The High School now has 7 wings (We had only 2) and more than 1500 students.
Werring Chevrolet is gone.
The Minuteman Restaurant is still on Rt. 202.
They’ve redone the “square” in Bernardsville…again…and again…and again…
The square in Morristown is still square.
The BR airport’s gone, now it’s condos.
The Great Swamp is now a national preserve—historic—like us!!!!!!
B. Altman’s, Salney Bros., and M. Epstein’s are gone; so are Two Guys and Korvettes.
Sears is still on Rt. 22.
The Dead River is still dead.
Charter Day (third Saturday in May) replaced Kiwanis Fair.
Crane Farm stand still in season.
Fortenbacker Little League complex (Liberty Corner) has lights.
Varsity no longer plays baseball at War Memorial.
NJ Transit (Erie Lackawanna) now runs directly to NYC.
Bernards Cinema now a triple.
Yes, Sussman’s still in the B’ville center.
Several new parks, bike and hiking trails, even a dog run.
Vincent J. Rizzo Optician is still there.
The Leaning Tower of Pizza on Route 22 is not.
Then, there’s the “Hills” and “Highlands” (Where’d you think those extra 20,000 people live?).
No longer a drug store in BR; no liquor store either (The town has no vices at all!!)
Mastro Shoes still in B’ville.
Andy Mastrobattista still cutting hair in LC at the Liberty Barber Shop.
The Pledge of Allegiance sign still stands at the corner of Allen and Somerville Rds.
The “nudist colony” camp still fenced around on Allen Rd.
